Privacy, Cookies, and the Perfect Fit: How Consent Impacts the Measmerize Experience

We often get asked how different cookie consent levels affect the shopper's journey and the data you see in your dashboard. Here is a guide to understanding how Measmerize "listens" to your shoppers' privacy choices.

At Measmerize, we believe that delivering the perfect fit should never come at the cost of data privacy. Security and reliability are core pillars of our brand values. We are fully committed to complying with global data protection regulations, including the most stringent privacy requirements of EU, China, and California, ensuring that your shoppers feel safe while using our size recommendation tool.

For a detailed look at how we handle data, you can read our full Privacy and Cookie policies.

Q: How does Measmerize know if a shopper has accepted cookies?

A: Our tool is designed to be intelligent and compliant by default. Measmerize automatically "listens" to the signals from your store’s Cookie Management Platform (CMP). We adjust the functionality of the size advisor in real-time based on whether the shopper has granted "Full Consent" or "Mandatory/Essential Only" consent.

Q: What is the shopper experience if they accept ALL cookies?

A: This unlocks the Optimal Experience. When a user accepts all cookies, Measmerize can store temporary session data locally.

  • Seamless Browsing: Once a shopper completes the sizing questionnaire for a specific category (e.g., Apparel), we automatically recalculate and display recommendations for every other product page they visit in that category.

  • Frictionless: They do not need to re-enter their height, weight, or body shape again during that session.

  • Note on Categories: If the shopper goes to a new product category, (eg: switches from Apparel to Footwear), they will need to complete fill in the questionnaire for that new category, as the sizing logic and questions differs. Once done, recommendations will again be automatic for all footwear items.

Q: What happens if a shopper REJECTS cookies (Mandatory/Strict Mode)?

A: We strictly respect their choice. If a user selects "Mandatory Cookies Only" or declines tracking:

  • Service Remains Active: We will still provide a size recommendation on the current product page. The shopper can use the tool to find their fit.

  • No Storage: To remain compliant, we will not store their body data or preferences in cookies.

  • The Trade-off: If the shopper navigates to a different product page, they will need to re-enter their information. The "memory" of the tool is disabled to protect their privacy.

Q: Why do my Measmerize Analytics show fewer users than my Google Analytics?

A: This is likely due to Consent Gaps. Our analytics dashboard reports on user interactions and recommendations. However, if a user has not accepted cookies (or if your CMP is blocking the script prior to consent), Measmerize does not record that interaction.

  • The Result: Users who browse in "Strict Privacy" mode are excluded from your Measmerize reports. This ensures your analytics data is 100% compliant with user consent, even if it means the total volume reported is slightly lower than total site traffic.

Which Cookie Consent Tools does Measmerize support?

A: We currently integrate natively with the major Cookie Management Platforms to ensure seamless compliance. Our system automatically detects consent signals from:

  • OneTrust

  • Tealium

  • Iubenda

  • CookieScript

  • Cookiebot

  • TrustCommander

  • Didomi

  • Complianz

  • Iubenda

What if my store doesn't use one of these tools? If none of the specific CMPs listed above are recognized on your site, Measmerize defaults to checking the standard Shopify Customer Privacy settings to determine consent status. This ensures that even without a third-party tool, we remain compliant with your platform's native privacy controls.
